Cosy Shows and Movies

There are shows I watch every year. I enjoy the gentle-ness they add to my life with their predictability as I have watched them many, many times. They are my current antidepressants.

Here is my list, if you would like to peruse:
Friends: Starting off strong with this show. I think I can probably get a very, very high score, if not perfect, in a Friends trivia contest. I watch it almost everyday and have for more than a decade. I find the humour, outfits, topics of discussion, everything timeless. While I know that some people detest it, I urge you to give it a shot. Watch season 1, even if it's in the background.
Frasier: Another beautifully made show with tasteful humour and great characters. I find Niles and Daphne's romance to be very cute and Martin and Ross's characters to be relatable. How nice it would be to have such a family! If you have not watched this, you need to simply to see how far along we were in the field of psychiatry about 30 years ago.
Modern Family: The mockumentary style of show can take some getting used to but once you do, this is my contemporary favourite show. The clash of family generations, the complicated relationships, the difficulties of parenting, inter-racial family dynamics all come together to make hilarious 11 seasons. I watch it once a year for the past three years.
Schitt's Creek: I will admit that it took me a while to get into this show but oh my god, David, it is so good! The unique set of infuriating characters along with the very talented actors chosen to play them make this show a beautiful one to watch throughout summer.
You've Got Mail: Bookshop, writing, enemies to lovers trope, amazing apartment settings, this film has got it all for a cosy night in. Bring your popcorn, maybe a glass of wine and you've got a perfect movie for fall and winter. I would think it's a great watch for Valentine's Day - whether alone or with loved ones.
Amelie: A French film about love, kindness, and simple pleasures. Beautiful music, endearing main character, sweet love story, and a happy ending. I love that they introduce characters by telling the audience what their simple pleasures in life are. Watch it with subtitles.
The Holiday: Hardly a December goes by without me playing this film. A great cast, sweet story, amazing interior decor inspiration, and perfect to watch with the entire family (or alone).
So there you have it. My on-repeat shows/films for when I am not watching YouTube vlogs of my favourite content creators.
Hope you have a beautiful day.

These are such great shows and movies 🍿 I do love a good comfort show. There’s just something so cozy about putting on a favorite show or movie, especially during the colder months here in the U.S.
